Shingleroof Campmeeting 2013

We have a wonderful Campmeeting planned again for this year. You will want to bookmark this page and check back for further details. Please mark you calendar now the dates are:
July 19 through July 25, 2013
We have services at 11:00 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.
Our servants for the week include.....
If you are in the community, plan now on attending every service. If you are coming from outside the community just plan on finding a place to stay and be a part of this life changing experience. We still have some camp sites left, including some with full hook-ups. You will not want to miss a single service, and you will be blessed.
Rev. Dr. David W. Bush
Dr. David W. Bush, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Dr. Bush has been a minister for 35 years, has held evangelistic services in 66 of the 75 counties in Arkansas, and has pastored congregations where the attendance was as little as 21 people and as much as 1300+ people. David loves to preach the "Good News of Jesus!" He has taught at several schools and colleges, and has served on several Conference committees. David and his wife Joanie have two grown children and a granddaughter. David is a duck hunter and a Razorback fan. David will be preaching to us during the weekend, starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday night.
Rev. Dr. William "Bill"
Bouknight III
We are blessed to have back with us Rev. Dr. Bill Bouknight. Bill retired from Christ United Methodist Church in June 2007. His impact at Christ Church was profound. At a time when many mainstream denominations were losing members, Bill helped build Christ Church into one of the largest and most influential Methodist churches in the country. If you want to know about someone, you listen to what others say about him or her. Dr Maxie Dunnam says of Bill, "He's a balance of evangelical and prophetic, in that he's always evangelical, but he speaks prophetically. There is never any question that he believes what he says to be true. It's not a public image with him, it's who he is and it's very faithful to the Wesleyan tradition." Bill will be finishing out our week, preaching Monday morning through Thursday night.
Rev. Darris
Baker (Host Pastor)
Rev.
Darris Baker is the senior pastor of McDonough First United Methodist
Church. Darris has a Bachelor of Music
Education degree from Columbus State University, and taught public school music
for a few years. Called into ministry, he entered and earned the Master of Arts
in Religious Education degree (emphasis, youth ministry) at Southwestern
Theological Seminary. After 22 years of serving as a youth minister, he entered
the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and earned the Master of
Theological Studies and the Master of Divinity degrees. He is an ordained
elder in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. His
wife, Dotti, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education.
She has served as an accompanist for numerous vocal and instrumental
soloists and ensembles, and as director and accompanist for church and community
choirs. Darris is also an accomplished instrumentalist. He plays
violin, and he can "fiddle" too. He and Dotti Darris and
Dotti have two children and one "perfect" grandson. We are excited to
welcome Darris back for his third year as host pastor for Shingleroof
Campmeeting.

Mr. Dana Blackwood
We are pleased to welcome back Dana Blackwood as our song leader for campmeeting this year. Dana has been in full time Christian ministry for over twenty-years. Dana has sung for former presidents and in many of the great churches in the United States. However, his heartbeat is to live out his worship of God so that others are inspired to enter into God’s presence. Dana is currently on staff at the Church of The Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia where he has served in various roles over the last fifteen years. Dana is married to Dawn Bagwell Blackwood and has two daughters Megan and Bailee. We welcome Dana for his third year at Shingleroof.
Ms.
Melissa Hensel
On the piano for the entire week, we welcome back Melissa Hensel. For many at Shingleroof, Melissa is as much a part of this week as putting your feet in the cool waters of the spring. We have counted on her for so long, we are just not sure what we would do without her. Melissa has been playing the Shingleroof piano now for more than 30 years, and we are very blessed to have her as part of our campmeeting experience.
Ms.
Amy May
We always have plenty of fun things for the kids to do at Shingleroof. This year we are excited to welcome back Ms. Amy to Shingleroof to lead the children's activities. We want all of the kids to come down to the pavilion every weekday afternoon at 2:00 for a fun time of crafts and games led by Ms. Amy. Ms. Amy May joins us again this year and has a lot of things planned for your children. Who will be the first to burst a water balloon on Ms. Amy?
Special Music for all Services
Music will be provided by many local groups and choirs from the community. We welcome back and are blessed to have our area choirs and soloists. Keep checking back as we fill all the special music slots.
